In July this year, I
celebrated my 60th birthday in a top seafood restaurant in
Paris, among a very special bunch of friends made in our 22
months in Herbalife! My background is in the dry-cleaning and
textile services industry where I spent 25 years - but markets
change and my business failed and despite my best endeavours,
I ended up in debt with insufficient income to make ends meet
- the future at 58 years old looked bleak! Then a friend
suggested that I might like to take a look at a work-from-home
opportunity and despite my enormous scepticism, decided to
take a look! After getting all the information, we needed and
after attending a Training/Information Day (ROM) so that we
could make an informed decision, Tracy and I joined the
company and qualified to the Supervisor level in October
2001.
Tracy Falconer
I became a single
mother in 1991 with two small children to raise and relied on
benefits to make ends meet. I took on a part-time job with one
of the major High Street retailers dealing mainly with
customer care. I was looking forward to developing a career
within the company but after 10 years I hadn't progressed as I
hoped. Unlike David I had never worked for myself before, so
when he asked me to take a look at the opportunity with him I
decided I had nothing to lose and attended the training day
(ROM) with him. I had been very unsure of whether I could do
this business but what I saw at the ROM was ordinary people
from all sorts of backgrounds, building successful businesses
working from home and I thought if they can do it so can I!
The rest is as you can see, - is history!
Getting Started
What attracted us
to the opportunity was the sheer size and marketplace. We
recognised the huge potential for the company's unique
products and the "Look-good, feel-good and stay younger and
healthier for longer" market was set to explode over the
coming years. Also the incredible support systems and tools
available from the B.I.G. organisation gave us the confidence
to believe that we could become successful in this new
business.
We both got on the products immediately: David lost 1st
2lbs in 6 weeks and Tracy lost 10lbs in 3 weeks and we have
both maintained our goal weight since! These results and the
vitality and energy that accompanied them, enabled us to start
retailing the products immediately and we made £430 profit
from this on a part-time basis in our first month! This gave
us confidence in our ability to do the business and we became
very excited by the future possibilities it offered
us.
By January, month 3, our continuing success at
retailing gave us the confidence to start building a small
group of distributors and we began to introduce people into
our business. In the same month we achieved the next (4th)
level in the Marketing Plan. By April we had progressed to the
5th Level which provided us with a 40% increase in our royalty
income!
The benefits so far
Our
work-from-home business has enabled us to move, within 14
months of starting, from a three bedroom terraced house to a
lovely roomy farmhouse set in 2 acres of paddock. We have also
travelled to many countries with the company, been on two
all-expenses-paid holidays; one to a world-class resort in
Greece and most recently on a £1million luxury boat in the
Mediterranean! In the course of building the business, we have
helped many people control their weight and improve their
health. We have also introduced the opportunity to others, who
we are now working with to help achieve their own lifestyle
goals and creating life-long friendships in the process. This
business is tremendous fun and we are both also enjoying
extraordinary personal growth along the way.
The Future
We are both even more
excited now about the future than at any time since we started
as we continue to build a financial wall around our ourselves
and our families and as even more incredible possibilities
open up ahead of us. This truly is the opportunity of a
lifetime and one of the most satisfying aspects the business
is that our success is achieved through contributing to the
success of others.
